Didactics
Wednesday Conference: Every Wednesday morning, residents are expected to attend protected conference time from 7am-12pm. Conference consists of lectures on a variety of topics are given by senior residents, faculty, and guest lecturers. In addition residents prepare and present, mortality and morbidity review, journal club and case presentations with attending supervision. Rosen's quizzes are also administered every Wednesday morning at 7am, and reviewed by the faculty who prepared it. Lastly, resident meetings and departmental updates are held once monthly.
Tinitinalli Review: Every Wednesday, OGME-IV residents meet to review scheduled chapters of Tintinalli, and take a quiz administered by faculty.
Rosen's Review: Every Wednesday Morning, OGMEI-III meet to review scheduled chapters of Rosen's and take a quiz administered by faculty. Chapters are then reviewed by Faculty attendings.
Journal Club: Our program offers two types of journal club. Conference journal club which reviews the latest literature, and classic journal club, which reviews landmark studies. Conference journal club is offered monthly and held during our Wednesday morning conference. Classic journal club is held typically offsite.
Morning Report: On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings, morning report is held in the emergency department. They typically consist of lectures and case presentation with the participation of residents and faculty. In addition, we hold ECG rounds, megacodes and oral board review.
Oral Board Review: During morning report, oral board review is offered by faculty to all senior residents in the department, with participation by all attendees.
ECG Rounds: Once monthly during morning report, we review selected ECGs and discuss them in detail.
Megacodes: Once monthly, simulated cases are presented to preselected residents, and thoroughly reviewed by senior residents and faculty.
Cardiology & Radiology Case Studies: Every month, radiology and cardiology cases are posted by faculty attending, and need to be completed by residents of all OGME classes.
